Just in via email:
The death of Prof. Dr. Lech Krzyzaniak, Director of the
Poznan Museum in Poland, on the 10 July 2004, came to me as
a great surprise since that last time I saw him he seemed
to be in good health. A fine person and a splendid scholar
who carried out valuable work in Egypt and Sudan and helped
organize the Poznan conferences which have become increasingly
popular among scholars, he will be missed by all those who
knew him. I want to express my most sincere condolences to
Karla, Michal, Marek and all his relatives and friends.
Lech was a truly extraordinary scholar and a man who was pleasant to work in the field with. Egyptian archaeology is certainly lessened with his passing.
