Area deemed burial site
Bones discovered Tuesday in a creek bed in the foothills west of Willows are positively the skeletal remains of five Indians, and the area is now deemed a prehistoric archeological Indian burial site.

At the location of the discovery Thursday afternoon, Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones said Chico State University archaeologist Greg White confirmed the bones are prehistoric remains. He said the archaeologist made a preliminary estimate that the bones are between 300 and 500 years old.

White identified one skeleton as a young person between the ages of 14 and 18, and the other as a woman about 45 years old.
