Tut in the New World update

This one from the NY Times has more on the financial aspects of the production. The exhibit, while much larger than the original, will apparently only be in four US cities. And the ticket prices are $30.

We're unsure whether these exceptionally high prices will fly or not. The last major Egyptian exhibit, Eternal Egypt seemed to do very well at attracting crowds and, let's face it, Tutankhamun is still the archetype of Egyptian archaeology/Egyptology. Still, $30 a pop seems like an awful lot. If the money does, in fact, go a long way towards funding a new museum in Cairo -- something reasonably state of the art -- it will be a good thing.

Update: We might have been thinking of The Quest For Immortality exhibit.
