MILITANCY and archeological excavations have been going on side by side in Kashmir valley over the past five years. During this period several findings in the shape of idols of Hindu deities, Buddha’s statues, sculpture, coins and terracotta tiles have come out from villages in Kashmir. They have come either accidentally or the department of archaeology, which has been entrusted to peep into the past, has dug them out. The findings have drawn the attention of many curators, historians and art lovers, who term them as rare gifts from the aborigines of Kashmir.
